Beat Sheets

I’m going to start working on posting some beat sheets to the blog – requests, anyone?

I’ll try to do one film in each genre grouping to start.

And if any reader has some beat sheets they’d like to share, please send them on over!

Thanks!

I’m into the comedies. I’d love to see the beat sheet for The Hangover.

Tina, that’s a great recommendation! Thanks.

Shane, these are all great films (Memento and Amelie are certainly on my top list) but I’m not sure any of these is a great teaching tool for a specific genre. Do you have any other wants that are a more specific fit within a certain genre? Thanks!!

    District 9

    The Royal Tenenbaums

    Hi Monica,
I was hoping to see the beats of non-traditional type movies to see how they may fit or not fit the classic hollywood patterns. If those are too far off the beaten path then how about “breakfast club”? I’ve been wondering how the structure of the hughes movies compares to what what is going on in teen movies for this generation.

The thing is that studying the ones that break the rules isn’t as helpful when you’re learning, especially if you’re trying to learn the rules of something within a particular genre… I’d like to cover the basic teaching titles first.

Did you post beat sheets? I’d like to see a Dramedy one. Pick one you think works, please.

    And thanks!

Diana, what dramedy are you thinking of?

I would love a beat sheet to The Wizard of Oz. I’m trying to follow the format but a beat sheet to it would be fantastic.
