I’ve put together this film genre database specifically as a tool to help writers have an easy and accessible study list when approaching a new story idea. Within this list, you will find a short list of benchmark movies that fall within each genre category. This will help you identify projects that most closely resemble your own in terms of genre and story structure.
My intention is also to offer a beat sheet for one project within each sub-category, so that you can study the basic structure of that genre and sub-genre.
